I’ve been wanting to write about heart healthy meal plans for a while now. My family all seem to have heart problems, so I think this would help them out if they actually followed it. LOL, I doubt it though.
First off, your body isn’t meant to take chemicals to regulate your heart health. Your diet and fitness should be the regulators for that. I think this is where most people fail in this area. Instead of eating right and working out, they opt for the coffee, donuts, and heart pills.
Anyway, here’s what you should look for when creating a heart healthy meal plans.
Sodium levels. Anything in a box these days has way too much sodium. Even if it says that it’s a healthy choice on the box, it’s usually not. Lets take sauces for example. That is where most of the sodium will come into your meals for flavor.
For the people that want that instant flavor gratification, I’m going to show you a way to keep the flavor, while eliminating some of that sodium.
Put about 400mls of the most fat free plain yogurt you can find, into your blender. Then throw about 10 big fresh basil leaves into the blender. Throw in about 5 cloves of garlic, and blend. Blend’er good.
That is a good dressing for your rice, salad, chicken, or fish. and it goes well with your red wine.
1 – 2 glasses of wine with your dinner is recommended. I’ve recently started drinking the stuff. At first I hated it. But in the last couple of days, I’ve noticed that it goes well with the food. It’s very good for the heart, as long as you’re not getting inebriated every night. I’m currently drinking a 2009 Argentinian Malbec.
