Creating a healthy lifestyle includes a few different ingredients. We all know about having a balanced diet and a regular exercise routine, limiting toxins such as alcohol, going to the dentist and optometrist as recommended, but what about visiting the chiropractor? May people don’t think about chiropractic when thinking about having the optimal healthy lifestyle, when in reality, it is one of the key components!

How does chiropractic contribute to my healthy lifestyle? First of all, what is good health? One of the largest misconceptions about measuring your health is by how you feel. Does feeling good mean you are healthy? Is sure does not! It’s great to feel good, but many issues may arise out of no where, when you were feeling good for so long.

This comes down to your central nervous system, which is made up of 3 different types of nerves. Motor nerves control your muscles, autonomic nerves control your organs, and sensory nerves transmit pain, all receiving messages from your brain. Believe it or not, your sensory nerves make up such a small percentage of your nervous system that basing your overall health on solely how you feel means nothing.

Think about how this works for a moment: Let’s say we cut one of your motor nerves. The line of communication from your brain to the muscle would be broken. Do you think this would cause you any pain? No! The muscle would no longer be able to function properly and the result could be the muscle being sore, tight, or weak.

Getting regular adjustments allows your spine to be aligned which allows all of your nerves to function optimally. This means the messages being sent from your brain to every part of your body are being received clearly, allowing for a properly functioning, healthy body! Chiropractic care plays a large role in creating a healthy lifestyle for you and your whole family!
