In today’s busy world, we are often too busy and forget to look after ourselves. We run from home to work, from work to all our different errands, and then back home, not leaving ourselves enough time to breathe and enjoy our lives. We forget to eat properly, grabbing whatever we can in the different fast food places, or eat a too heavy meal with our business colleagues. We drive around in our cars or take the bus or train, we sit all day long next to our office desk and work on our computers or laptops, and don’t have enough exercise.

Then suddenly something happens that reminds us to stop: Maybe someone close gets sick, maybe we ourselves fall sick. Or maybe we just start feeling the pressure of this bad lifestyle.

Don’t wait for something bad to happen. Start living a healthy lifestyle now, preventing the onset of illness. Feel happier and healthier already now.

Following are a few tips that will help you follow a healthy lifestyle:

  1. Don’t skip breakfast. Start your day with a light healthy meal.
  2. Drink water before starting your meal.
  3. Take with you a bottle of water to everywhere you go.
  4. Eat less meat, more vegetables.
  5. Don’t overuse salt. Spice your food with lemon or other healthy spices, such as pepper, garlic or chili.
  6. With a smaller plate chances are you will eat less.
  7. Be sure to always have some fruit and vegetables in your fridge.
  8. Don’t smoke.
  9. Walk to work.
  10. Walk during your lunch break.
  11. Get yourself a bike. Riding a bike is good to your heart, even better than walking.
  12. In the mall and anywhere else, use the steps instead of the escalator or elevator.
  13. When working long hours near you computer, take a short break every hour or so to stand up, walk a bit and stretch your body.
  14. Make a habit of greeting a stranger or acquaintance with a smile at least once a day.
