Snacking is a part of everyone’s life. In fact, dietitians recommend that instead of eating 3 heavy meals, people should try 6 smaller meals in order to stay healthier, lose weight and boost metabolism. This essentially means that you may have a smaller Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner in order to incorporate 3 smaller, healthier snacks in between so that the body never feels starved and the metabolism never slows down.

The work ‘snacking’ reminds most people of potato chips, potato wedges and greasy burgers. However, all of these do not fit the bill of ‘healthy snacks’. Healthy snack recipes are those which have lesser fatter and more proteins and carbohydrates in order to give the body more energy and lesser calories. Though a bag of peanuts and some pine nuts make for healthy snack options, there are many other options available which you may incorporate in your day to day life so that snacking never gets boring.

One of the best healthy snack recipes is a vegetable platter. Cut 2 baby carrots, 2 celery and 2 cucumbers into bite size pieces. You may also add any other vegetable you like to add raw, like spring onions or Chinese cabbage. Put it in a plate and sprinkle some salt and pepper. For a healthy dip, mix some natural low fat yogurt with oregano. Enjoy the veggies dipped in the low fat dip. You may make an alternative to this recipe by using slices of low fat cheese like cottage cheese.

Another healthy recipe is fruit yogurt. You may use any fruit that can be pureed easily, like strawberries, mango, blue berries. Puree a handful of the fruit or fruit pieces in a blender. Do not add any sugar as the fruit itself will add sweetness to the yogurt. Add 100 ml of natural yogurt and give it a whiz. You may add crushed ice to this to give it a chilling effect. Pour into a small cup and enjoy a healthy snack packed with calcium and vitamins.

The easiest method for weight loss includes switching your bag of chips to healthy snack recipes. Try and see the difference, your body will certainly thank you for giving it a healthier option.
