Well food can be broadly classified as: Alkaline and Acidic. Food that we usually take is 70% acidic and 30% alkaline which in fact must be opposite for healthy living. Human body is Alkaline in nature so; it has to maintain slightly alkaline body plasma. Due to insufficient intake of alkaline food it has restore balance by extracting calcium from bones and other places like teeth etc. In addition to this lack of Vitamin D due to lack of sunlight and animal food (that vegetarians don’t eat) are the reasons for continual increase in Dental diseases, brittle bones and Arthritis.

Acidic environment leads to the development of harmful bacteria and alkaline environment leads to the development of good ones.

All types of cereals and medicines are strongly acidic and kill useful bacteria. Excess of sugar, salt and milk are also harmful, rather curd and buttermilk are healthy.

So the nutrition food includes 70%alkaline and 30% acidic food.

These points should also be taken care of for healthy living:

o Fats and oils should not exceed 10-15 ml per day (3 tea spoons)
o Carbohydrate based foods should be minimized as much as possible.
o Avoid sugar and salt as much as possible.
o Drink lot of water (3-4 liters a day in summers).
o To avoid Dental problems, use mouthwash at night.

Along with a healthy diet, exercise is an essential part of a healthy living. One-third of body toxins are removed by sweat only. Otherwise it will have heavy burden on Liver and Kidney. Elevators and Air-conditioned cars have finished little bit chance of sweating. Thus, make yoga and Pranayama your routine.
