When summer is just around the corner everyone begins to worry about being in shape for their new bikini or swimsuit so that they look their absolute best while on the beach. Believe me when I say summer for most people is about fitness and weight loss.

Well why not start now? There is no better time than now because well summer is upon us.

Now starving yourself to reach your weight loss for summer goal is not the way to do it and I will tell you why. Most people think that to get quick weight loss results you need to eat minuscule amounts but this is far from the truth!!! Because eating minuscule amounts to lose the weight can only result in bad outcomes e.g.

– You lose the weight for a short period of time, but because you slowed down your metabolism by eating a lot less you will put the weight straight back on once you start eating normally again.

So how do you get around this and still lose the weight in a reasonable amount of time??

What you actually want to do is to still watch the amount you consume and not decrease to a mouse’s portion. But instead watch what you are actually eating and when you are eating it e.g. Try to maintain a 6 small – medium size meals a day instead of 3 big meals as this keeps your metabolism running all day.

You want to STAY AWAY FROM BAD CARBS (carbohydrates). There are good and bad carbs e.g. Some good carbs are fruit, vegetables, and whole grain bread. Some bad carbs would be processed, packaged foods like cookies, cakes and white bread. Try to consume more protein in either form of food or protein shakes/bars.

If you decide to take the path of starving yourself your body will start to eat at your muscle to use it as energy, losing muscle is an extremely bad idea because the more muscle you have the more calories the body burns at a quicker rate to maintain the muscle.

Fact: Muscle tissue is active and burns about 35 calories per lb per day just by existing. Fat is inactive tissue and burns about 2 calories per lb per day just by existing.
