There is a misconception that our eating habits and lifestyle choices earlier in our life don’t make much difference with our long term health. Some people take the attitude that “We are all going to die anyway, so why does it matter?”

What do you think? Is this the right attitude to have about health? I say… NO! It’s not the right attitude, because making healthy lifestyle choices really make a difference in the long run. We can lengthen our life by preventing disease, strengthening our body, and avoiding things that will harm us.

Additionally, making healthy lifestyle choices will allow us to enjoy our lifetime more fully. Having a healthy, fit body enables you to enjoy activities that are difficult to do if you are weighed down by disease or disability.

So, what kind of healthy choices should you make? One of the most important factors in long-term health is: your eating habits. It has been said that “You are what you eat,” and it this statement is true. If you eat healthy, clean foods then your body will be healthy and strong.

Focus your eating on fruits and vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds, beans and legumes. Limit high fat foods such as meats and dairy products. Eating fresh, whole foods all the time will provide your body with the nutrition that it needs to be healthy and well.

Also, limit the processed foods that you are consuming. There is a lot of junk food available in our modern grocery stores, but just because it is available doesn’t mean that you need to eat it! Many of those processed foods contain highly refined flours and sugars, and they are lacking in the essential nutrients that you need to be healthy.

Following these healthy eating guidelines can help you to avoid disease and illness, and also help you to have a happier, more fulfilled life!
