Running has also been shown to improve your immune system which wards off germs and viruses. It also helps to increase bone density and to keep osteoporosis in check. 2. Losing weight is much easier when you combine a healthy diet with exercise. The runner burns up calories which helps to maintain a healthy weight profile. One caveat–don’t overeat just because you exercise. You must use up more calories than you ingest from your food if you want to lose weight. By running with a group or even with just a friend or two you are motivated to continue by mutual encouragement and by setting goals, which you can help each other to meet. You can also socialise online with others in a forum which is related to your running and jogging.
6. You may decide to enter in a local charity run. A 5k race or even a marathon to support a charitable cause. This is great motivation to get yourself well prepared by exercising regularly in the lead up to the event. The event itself will get you connected with hundreds of others who are similarly motivated and can lead to further organised runs.
7. Running or jogging will make you feel very good and greatly boost your self image and self esteem. To feel really healthy and alive is a marvelous confidence booster. People start jogging and running for many different reasons. Maybe you want to lose weight, be healthier or you have become involved in a charity run. No matter what your reason is you will gain much from your activity and will feel better physically as well as mentally.
