You’ve tried a few diet plans and likely lost some weight. If you’re like most typical dieters you’ve gained that weight back plus a little more. You may believe that the diet program doesn’t work and in some cases you are right, some plans just aren’t sustainable. In most cases, though, it is your weight loss motivation that is lacking.

When starting out on a fat loss program your motivation is very high. You lose some initial weight and you start to like the way you look and feel. Other people comment on how great you look and then…the inevitable happens. Your motivation starts to wane. You begin to return to your old eating patterns.

Many experts will state that 80% of fat loss has to do with nutrition and 20% is physical activity. I suggest that 40% is nutrition, 20% is fitness, and 40% is in your head.An approach that is geared to changing your dietary habits permanently while adjusting your self-image are the keys to the body you want.

Think Healthy

When I decided to lose weight a few years ago, my plan of operation was based on eating only healthy foods. I had to change my dietary habits that had been with me for 30 years. This created a strain on the subconscious mind as it doesn’t like change. This is where my will power kicked in. I decided that everything I eat has to have health benefits. That meant that all processed, low-nutrient food was banished from my house. After a month or two, I had established new dietary habits that continue to this day. Today, I’m fit, lean, and have tons of energy. Think healthy when making food choices.

Other Weight Loss Motivation Techniques

The best techniques involves focusing your subconscious mind on your goals. These strategies are effective in changing any part of your life.

o Learn all that you can about health, fitness, and nutrition. Fill your subconscious mind with this information on a daily basis. Your mind will then seek to make these terms a reality. This is a very effective technique.

o Visualize yourself as a lean, healthy person. Disregard the image you see in the mirror. Keep your mind focused on the goal. Your subconscious will begin to lead you to your ideal weight.

o Accept responsibility for your weight gain. When you take responsibility for your past dietary habits and lack of physical activity, you can then take ownership for the solution. Forgive yourself and let it go.
