One of the most difficult aspects of exercising I have to admit is motivation. Where and how do you find the motivation to stay with the exercise program you have embarked upon? While it is not easy, it is not impossible either. If I can do it, believe me, so can anyone else!

With any form of exercise the difficult part is to get started. Once you get started the problem is far from being resolved, it has only just begun. You may be wondering what on earth I am referring to. Simple, you need to work at staying motivated every day. It is not something you fix once and then forget about. You have to work up the enthusiasm to get out of your nice, comfy bed each day and start working out.

How often have you ducked out at the last moment? I have actually paid the full subscription and quit after just one session. Pathetic! We all need motivation to do the things we perceive as difficult, boring, or impossible. With regard to exercise, we need something to direct our efforts towards working out. That something is the same as having a professional athletes deep seated desire to compete and win. Some people follow their exercise regime religiously because they are totally sold on healthy living.

Motivation will not come to you even if you wait till doomsday for it! You have to find out what motivates you and use that to keep you motivated towards sticking to your exercise program. The way forward is to create your personal motivation. Here are a few suggestions to help you create your own motivation.

Set goals for yourself. Nothing in life can ever get accomplished if we don’t have specific goals that are realistic and achievable. You have to have something to work towards. Maybe you want to get into that fabulous pair of jeans by the time your birthday rolls round. Then don’t wait till someday to do it. Get started exercising right away. There is your motivation right there.

Set yourself daily, weekly, and monthly goals if it makes you feel more committed to exercising. Set however many goals you want to set, just work towards them with an unstoppable level of dedication.

Prepare for your morning so that all you have to do is wake up, dress, pick up your gym bag and hit the road. If you have to pack a bag in the early morning when you are still half asleep it will not work. These are just a few pointers on how to get yourself motivated. Happy exercising!
