Over the years, exercise and eating right has helped me incorporate three very important principles into my business world and my exercise career. It is these three principles that have taken a unmotivated, undisciplined, fat, low self esteem kid to a person that most would say has done very well. What are those principles? They are; consistency, variety and efficiency.
Chances are you will buy hundreds or even thousands of dollars in fitness fantasy land exercise and diet gimmicks over your life time. However, at the end of the day your success in losing weight and sticking to a program will always come back to these three principles.
CONSISTENCY:
Losing weight and sticking to your exercise program is hard work. It is long work. It is precise work. The question is, “Are you willing to put in your dues?” Are you going to be the Tortoise or the Hare? Stop kidding yourself by denying hard consistent work. Either you do or you go broke and go nuts with frustration.
VARIETY:
Most people stop weight loss and exercise programs because of boredom. Do you? Let’s face it, exercising and sacrificing taste for healthy food will never be the most comfortable thing to do, or the most exciting. However, longevity comes down to putting variety into the plan. Think ahead, make it interesting, set goals, and give yourselves rewards. Do what ever it takes to keep your mind fresh. If you do not, you will be a statistic.
EFFICIENCY
Have you ever thought more would be better? More time on a treadmill. Or cut out more fat in your diet? More is NOT always the better thing to do. Working smarter is! To be more efficient in your programs you may pre-plan your meals, set time frames to workouts, eat with your opposite hands, work larger muscle groups first or monitor your heart rate while you exercise. Work smarter in less time pays off more down the road.
There is no magic to losing weight. There are no hidden magic formulas to it all. It comes down to being consistent, changing things up, and being smart about it all.
