Motivate Your Mind and Exercise Your Body

I love to motivate people to develop healthier lifestyles through exercise. Probably the most popular question I get asked is “Why can’t I look like …” This is a question that we have all asked ourselves at one time or another. I wish I could tell you that you can have the body of anyone you want to, but the reality is that we are all physically unique. You can only work your body to the best it can be. Too often many people will have an image of a body they want to look like and work out as hard as they can to attain it, but when they don’t attain their ultimate goal they get frustrated and give up. It is best to develop a workout program that best suits your needs.

Being healthy is the most valuable thing in your life. It is easy to take your health for granted and think bad things won’t happen to you or you’ll worry about it when you are much older. When you are young you rarely worry about heart disease, cancer, diabetes or even arthritis. Many young people seem to abuse their bodies thinking that it will sort itself back into shape, unfortunately this isn’t the case. If you have already entered you adult years or perhaps your mature years you’ll know exactly what I am talking about. It is important to look after your internal and external health.

Motivation comes from having a desire to complete a goal. In this case it is a desire to look good and feel healthier. Through your training and eating regime this is what needs to stay in the front of your mind. It is easy to become initially motivated when starting out and then as the weeks pass that motivation dwindles and finally you hit a level where you would rather pack in exercising. If you can keep focussed on that desire to reach your goal, it is the desire that will keep up your motivation.

Remaining constant is very important, for example, if you do something every day for 30 days it becomes a habit. Ok, so you are probably saying to yourself there is no way that I am going to exercise every day of my life, 7 days a week. That is fine, I wouldn’t expect you to do that, although it would be OK too. If you decided to exercise 3 times a week, say Monday, Wednesday and Friday, then eventually that would become a habit too. As long as you are constant and exercise on those days each week you will develop a healthy habit of exercising.

Lastly, if you are just starting out, don’t try to do too much at once. Too much of a good thing can create something bad. Too much exercise can lead to injuries and put you on the side lines for weeks while waiting for recovery. The key is to have a balanced lifestyle between work, home and the gym. The same goes for food too, you can still have a balanced diet where you watch the fat and calorie content but it doesn’t hurt to have the odd take out.
