It is mandatory for us to practice good dental habits and visit the dentist at least twice a year for a professional clean-up. This would include an overall inspection of the condition of the teeth followed by teeth scaling, polishing and fluoride treatment. Other than this there are some basic dental habits we have to make a part of our daily habits to ensure healthy teeth. Brushing with an inter dental tooth brush twice a day, once in the morning and before going to sleep will prevent damage to teeth. Inter dental brushes prevent damage of dental tissue and are recommended according to the space of the inter dental space. Dental flossing is yet another important part of oral hygiene as it removes the decayed food particles stuck in between the teeth. Many of us ignore tongue cleaning which is very essential to prevent bad odor in the mouth. Oral irrigation is yet another way of ensuring thorough cleaning of the mouth and the dental region. This type of cleaning goes deeper into the gums much farther than the normal brushing and floss.
